Your Tasks
• Technical management and coordination of project teams involved in mission and
satellite design, mainly in the field of early phase (Phase 0 – B1) Earth
Observation studies
• Technical management and coordination of proposals for institutional customers
(e.g. ESA, DLR)
• Management of technical interfaces between involved system elements
• Analysis and preparation of high-level technical requirements specifications
• Definition and design of mission concepts and corresponding system
architectures, incl. required trade-offs
• Definition of overall design, development and programmatic framework for EO
satellite missions
• Technical management and involved systems engineering of satellite design
activities down to subsystem level
o Interface control
o Engineering budgets
o End-to-End performance
o DDVP & AIV planning
o Satellite level specifications
o Interface specifications (payload, ground segment, launcher)
o Support specifications
• Ensuring a sound technical and programmatic system baseline in preparation of
the Phase B2/C/D bidding process
Your Qualifications
• Master’s degree or comparable in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• Professional experience of at least four years in satellite engineering projects,
preferably in Phase 0 – B1
• Professional experience of at least two years in definition and design of Earth
Observation systems for institutional customers
• Proven experience in technical and/or project management of institutional Earth
Observation projects
• Strong competences in space mission design, satellite systems engineering and
spacecraft subsystem lay-out
• Profound knowledge of mission analysis and astrodynamics
• Excellent conceptual and analytical skills
• Ability to devise creative solutions and think out-of-the-box
• High level of flexibility, willingness to work in international teams and ability to
keep tight schedules
• High motivation, pro-active working approach and strong sense of responsibility
• Excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills
• Fluency in both spoken and written (Business) English, German skills are
desirable
