Senior Field Engineer - Permanent

You will assume a customer-facing role in Support of Through Life Engineering function. You will lead trials, Installation and Support Activities across Defence Equipment programs in Military Environments and provide support to these products across a Global environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading and executing equipment activities, including; pre-installation surveys, equipment installations & removals and defect rectification work.
• Oversight and management of equipment fitting activities including close liaison/conflict management with staff and externally contracted companies.
• Conduct of System setting to work
• Presentation of equipment for Installation inspections, Harbour Acceptance, and Sea Acceptance trials
• Planning and execution of sea going and land based trials
• Carrying out an Annual Maintenance/Health check
• Producing engineering reports
• Carry out attachment to overseas location for support to deployed MCMV on a four week rotation.
• Carry out attachment on-board Royal Fleet Auxiliary ships in support of MCMV operations for up to 4 weeks.
• The Field Service Engineer team lead and equipment project manager for their assigned engineering task.
• This role does not entail any direct supervision responsibilities. However, on occasions this role may include
• Mentor, Motivate and encourage junior members of the team, to allow their competency level to improve.
• Required to take responsibility as a team lead for installation of the Business’ products.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Knowledge of Systems Engineering best practices and common pitfalls.
• Knowledge of the Systems Engineering lifecycles.
• Knowledge of Systems Engineering methodologies, processes and tools
• Appreciation of electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering.
• The role will require some manual handling/lifting, working at height and work in hot/cold conditions.
• You are willing to work overtime/unsociable hours if required, and to travel (fly and/or drive) to Customer sites in the UK and overseas as required.
• You are capable of producing good comprehensive technical reports using MS Word and MS Excel
• You are able to apply design changes to electrical/electronic systems, following design change processes.
• You are able to diagnose and correct electrical and electronic faults.
• You will work alongside Customers and communicate back to the project.
• You are self-motivated with the ability to define and achieve goals.
• You are a team player with the flexibility to cross boundaries if required.
• You have good communications skills (verbal and written). In particular, the ability to write clear concise reports and modification proposals.

Important Information: Due to the nature of the position, you would be required to hold, or be eligible for SC Clearance
