Your tasks:

•Responsible to produce the required theoretical optical performance of the real existing space instrument flight hardware in the clean room
•Cooperate with other groups of the AIT using the hardware procured by other entities of the company
•Responsible for the optical alignment and test of optical instruments as well as defining and procurement of the needed tooling OGSE (Optical ground support Equipment) while observing the given frame of the project cost and schedule
•Involved in most stages of the project, from quotation, inputs to design and AIV engineering as we as support to procurement of flight hardware and performance engineering. This is important to enable an efficient AIT and AIV process in the realization phases of the project
•Willingness to travel, to visit customers, suppliers or test facility locations all over Europe

Qualifications:

•University degree or PhD inTechnical Optics. Physics, Space Engineering or Mech. Eng.
•5-10 years (Senior) 3-4 (Main) in space or high precision optics industry preferred or university with a content which includes hands on experience
•Theoretical knowledge of optics, optical alignment, optical Metrology, optical instrumentation (Interferometers, Theodolites, Wavefront Sensors, Illumination setups, Lasers Fibers, Optical detectors), optical tolerancing and handling of optics
•Knowledge of mechanics: being able to read mechanical drawings, able to describe to mechanical engineers what O-AIT needs for mounting of optical parts and opto-mech. setups or layouts as well as mechanical tolerancing
•Basic knowledge of electrical topics to be able to handle hardware in the clean room
•Contemporary Software use
•Experience with hands on work with opto mech assemblies, like setting up opt-mechanical instrumentation on in lab environment
•Experience in leading a small technical team with or without disciplinary power
•Hands on use of optical equipment or optical design software (like Zemax, ASAP), we do not need this often as we a have an optics department doing this
•Work experience in clean rooms (ISO5 / Class 100)
•Knowledge of optical fabrication /coating technology, of mech. fabrication and metrology: (Interferometers, WFE sensors (Shack Hartmann Sensors), Theodolites, Laser Trackers and 3D CMM technology)
•Knowledge of cost and lead time of optical and mechanical components
•Experience in procurement of complex electro optical and mechanical setups as small projects with duration of typically more than a year
•Small Project Management experience
