Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Reporting to: Programme Manager
Role Synopsis:
Infuse innovation into the fabric of space exploration by orchestrating all mechanical engineering aspects. Spearhead designs and bring forth solutions that define durability and efficiency, while ensuring seamless remote deployment of structures and antennas in the vastness of space.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate intensively with the Programme Manager, leading mechanical engineering endeavors.
Forge resilient ties with clients, comprehending their demands and rendering expert solutions.
Architect lightweight and stowage efficient mechanisms, suited for space operations.
Thoroughly evaluate designs, ensuring their robustness in all conceivable scenarios.
Uphold the mechanism section within critical technical document suites.
Track, verify, and align with stipulated requirements.
Oversee project budgets, alerting the Programme Manager of potential challenges and solutions.
Steer work packages, optimizing task prioritization and budget adherence.
Lend technical acumen to procurement, assembly, and test phases.
Collaborate with the Business Development team on bids and proposals.
Champion the project vision in high-stake meetings, both internally and customer-facing.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
A Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Engineering or Science.
Comprehensive knowledge in disciplines like mechanical, thermal, electrical systems, and system engineering.
Expertise in gears, motors, or mechanisms.
Previous experience in regulated sectors such as Space, Nuclear, Aerospace, or Automotive.
Stellar planning abilities across myriad projects.
Fluent communication skills, coupled with proficiency in MS Office.
Team-oriented, relationship-builder at all professional tiers.
An inventive, proactive mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
A spirited, positive attitude.
Desirables:
Proficiency in software tools like SW professional, FEMAP, NASTRAN, ADAMS, Matlab, etc.
Acquaintance with ECSS or NASA GSFC norms.
Knowledge in RF systems engineering.
UK Government National Security Vetting or willingness to undergo vetting.
