Overview
A leading space company in Germany is looking for a Senior Materials and Process Engineer to support
their ongoing satellite programs. This is a contract position based in Munich, Germany, offering a
hybrid work model. The ideal candidate will bring solid expertise in space-grade materials and manufacturing
processes.
Your Tasks
– Focus on engineering consultancy, technical risk mitigation, and assurance concerning materials and processes
used in next-generation optical instruments.
– Join an international team responsible for assessing material and process suitability for use in space environments.
– Review and evaluate manufacturing, inspection, and test methods/procedures for the production and qualification of
space equipment and systems.
– Provide technical support in cases of non-conformances or during proposal evaluations.
– Participate in and lead technical reviews related to materials and processes used in future space technologies.
– Share your expertise in metallic and ceramic materials across the engineering team.
Your Qualifications
– PhD or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a comparable
qualification.
– Several years of experience in Materials and Processes Control (MMPP) for space applications.
– Familiarity with ECSS-ST-Q-70 standards.
– Strong expertise in metallurgy and/or ceramic materials.
– Knowledge of soldering, brazing, or welding is a clear advantage.
– Interdisciplinary mindset with an independent and forward-thinking approach.
– High level of flexibility, responsibility, and the ability to work in an international team.
– Confident personality with strong negotiation and communication skills.
– Willingness to travel for business.
– Fluent in English with good German communication skills.
– Structured, goal-oriented, and self-reliant working style.
– Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
Optional Skills
– Experience in optical engineering, fracture mechanics, quality assurance, or product assurance within the space industry.
– French language skills.
