Capital International Staffing have partnered with a leading space company located at the heart of the British space industry, Harwell Campus in Oxford. We are actively searching for an accomplished Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer who will play a pivotal role in shaping solutions for our clients' missions from a spacecraft systems standpoint.
As a key member of the Systems Team, you will assume a senior role, leading project work and providing mentorship to team members. Your hands-on experience as a senior engineer in spacecraft systems will be invaluable, allowing you to seamlessly integrate into ongoing projects and make an immediate impact..
The Role:
• Contribute to the development of spacecraft mission and system designs, including deriving requirements and defining CONOPS.
• Perform mission analysis and modelling for diverse spacecraft missions.
• Manage trade-offs and control platform systems budgets, covering areas such as mass, power, data, and fuel.
• Create comprehensive test and verification plans at the mission level.
• Develop mission-level Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR).
• Conduct rapid feasibility studies exploring various scenarios and architectures.
• Assist in bid work by offering technical solutions and preparing documentation.
• Maintain configuration control of systems work and associated documentation.
• Collaborate with and guide a multi-disciplined team in successfully delivering projects.

What You'll Bring
Mandatory Requirements:
• Right to Work in the UK and eligibility for a Security Clearance application.
Qualifications:
• Diploma, bachelor's, or master's degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience:
• A minimum of 10+ years of commercial experience in a Systems Engineering role focused on satellite platform architecture.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the systems and project engineering lifecycle, spanning requirements definition through verification.
• Hands-on experience in leading or planning for project review gates in satellite engineering, such as SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.
• Expertise in mission and systems architecture definition and CONOPS, with a particular emphasis on understanding space and ground segment interaction.
• Proficient in various subsystems and engineering teams, including GNC (AOCS, ADCS), astrodynamics, C&DH / OBDH, EPS, RCS (propulsion), COM (communications), software, ground segment, and operations.
• Proven track record in developing systems engineering documentation, collaborating with Project Managers as needed, including requirements, CONOPS, review gate materials, test and verification plans/procedures, DDVP, ICDs, equipment lists, FMECA, and FTAs.
• Familiarity with the AIT process, covering manufacture, assembly, functional, and environmental testing.
• Basic knowledge in areas such as debris removal, end-of-life, in-orbit maintenance, or servicing.
Desirable:
• Security Clearance
• 15+ years of extensive commercial experience in a Systems Engineering role focused on defining satellite platform architecture.
• Understanding of, or experience in, other project matters such as project management, procurement, bid support, and manufacturing.
• Proficiency in commonly used engineering and modelling packages (e.g., ModelSim, Matlab, STK) and/or coding and scripting languages (e.g., Python) applied to real-world engineering applications.
• Knowledge in the area of debris removal, including licensing, export, regulation, and space law.
• Familiarity with past missions of relevance, such as ESA projects (e.g., e.DeOrbit, DEOS, ATV, ETS-7).
