Capital International Staffing have partnered with a leading space company located at the heart of the British space industry, on the Harwell Campus in Oxford. We're seeking a Senior Simulation Software Engineer to develop state of the art simulators in house.

You will be providing technical expertise for the development of simulators, simulating satellites in the toughest conditions, and performing manoeuvres in close proximity to other space assets. You will be joining as a senior member of the team ready to get stuck into all aspects of software development, from analysis and design through to testing and deployment as well as mentoring more junior team members.

The Role:

• Designing, developing, integrating, validating, deploying, and maintaining software for spacecraft simulation
• Offering technical expertise as a Subject Matter Expert in simulator development
• Creating and integrating spacecraft simulation software tailored to client specifications
• Validating, configuring, and deploying simulation software
• Script development based on client-operational scenarios
• Conducting maintenance tasks on simulators to ensure optimal availability for users
• Assisting in the formulation of standard operational procedures for the Operations team
• Crafting start-up scripts to configure simulators as needed for various operational configurations

What You'll Bring:

Essential Skills:
• University degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or another STEM discipline
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in the space industry, specializing in modeling and simulation of digital electronics (processors, memory, FPGA) and interfaces/buses (CANBus, RS422, RS485, SpaceWire)
• Minimum 5+ years of industry experience in software development using C/C++, with a focus on real-time software development, preferably utilizing modeling and simulation technologies
• Familiarity with SMP2 and SIMULUS Suite, and/or other spacecraft simulation frameworks
• Experience with an emulation suite, preferably ESOC Emulator Suite or TEMU
• Proficiency in debugging and validating spacecraft onboard data handling subsystems
• Expertise in debugging and profiling on Linux platforms
• Strong knowledge of modern C++ (C++14)
• Object-oriented design skills using UML and familiarity with design patterns
• Experience with unit testing
• Fluency in spoken and written English
Desirable Skills:
• Experience with Agile software development, including tools and methodologies
• Familiarity with ECSS-E-70 (PUS), SCOS MIB
• Proficiency in Linux system administration, including shell scripts, make, etc.
• Scripting skills with JavaScript
