Overview
We’re working with a top space company in Germany to recruit a Data Handling Subsystem Lead with strong experience in
satellite avionics. This is a contract position based in Bremen, Germany, with a hybrid working model. We're looking
for a skilled professional to take ownership of data handling system design.
Tasks in the Project(s):
– Lead the design of the data handling subsystem.
– Define and develop the data handling subsystem of the satellite, covering initial sizing, trade-offs, interface budgets,
and hardware performances.
– Take technical responsibility for the satellite DHS integrity, including system-level activities such as requirements
engineering, design, and performance engineering.
– Oversee all Data Handling engineering activities to ensure technical quality, adherence to schedule, and cost targets.
– Define strategy, analysis, and test cases for DHS verification, including satellite configuration and interface control,
DHS budget control, and subsystem-level test plans.
– Coordinate review of specifications, ICDs, RfDs, and RfWs with respect to their impact on data interfaces.
– Coordinate closely with the Avionics Lead.
– Support system-level design reviews.
– Act as the focal point to customers for the satellite electrical systems.
– Deliver the data handling subsystem on time and within budget.
Qualification:
– A degree in engineering with a major in electrical engineering or a compatible qualification.
– More than 3 years of professional experience as an electronic systems engineer or in similar roles involving satellite
computers, bus communication (1553, CAN), SpaceWire, and FDIR concepts.
– Strong conceptual and analytical skills.
– Experience with hardware projects in phases B/C/D in the field of avionics systems.
– Proven ability to lead engineering teams.
– Excellent communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to work independently.
– Fluency in spoken and written English.
– Fluency in German is desired. Language skills can be improved through company-facilitated training.
