Working within the Manufacturing Assembly, Integration and Testing (MAIT) team, this role is responsible for ensuring products are built and tested to the highest standards. The position spans the full product portfolio, including both flight hardware and research and development programmes.


Key Responsibilities



  • Assemble research and development products and flight hardware.

  • Support testing activities for future products and flight hardware, including functional, electrical, vibration, shock, TVAC, and RF testing.

  • Develop and document Manufacturing Assembly Procedures (MAPs) and Test Procedures.

  • Perform detailed inspections of machined components using in‑house metrology equipment.

  • Collaborate with the Product Assurance team to define and document qualified MAIT processes when required.

  • Follow internal processes through to task completion and help identify, propose, and—when approved—support the implementation of process improvements.

  • Participate in customer and internal reviews.

  • Visit subcontractors and suppliers when necessary.


Qualifications, Skills & Experience


Essential:



  • Strong engineering discipline with hands‑on experience assembling precision components.

  • Demonstrable experience using metrology equipment.

  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of MAIT, including functional testing, electrical bonding/isolation, vibration, shock, TVAC, and kinematic testing of deployable systems.Experience working with assembly procedures.

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, surface finishes, tolerances, and materials.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

  • Self‑motivated with the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.A pragmatic, logical approach to problem‑solving, with the ability to develop simple, effective solutions to complex issues.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team depending on task requirements.

  • Flexibility to work extended hours or occasional weekends to meet build and test schedules.


Desirable



  • Technical knowledge of machined components.

  • Familiarity with ECSS standards for the space sector.

  • Experience in aerospace or automotive industries; space sector experience is particularly advantageous.

  • Mechanical apprenticeship training.

  • Understanding of aerospace processes and components.
