ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The successful applicant will be responsible for developing SW tools and applications to support the satellite ground systems engineering team. These SW applications are key to the management, control and processing of spacecraft data.

The role involves the analysis of user requirements, SW architectural design, SW coding, testing and preparation of the related documentation and Software Operations Manuals. It will also involve providing product support including product integration into SW systems, product enhancement and anomaly investigation and resolution.

The successful applicant will work as part of the ground systems team but also be able to work independently seeking clarification with the relevant experts and management when required.

The role offers the opportunity to grow and gain knowledge in multiple ground system disciplines and also take on further responsibilities in future. This coupled with the opportunity for mobility within company provides exciting career development opportunities.

The role may involve work on UK government programs and therefore the successful applicant should have the ability to obtain SC level clearance.

While the role is based in Portsmouth some travel for business to various locations around the globe may be required.

Skills and Experience:

•Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a related discipline;
•Experienced in:
o Requirements Analysis;
o Software development and test;
o Software documentation;
o SW product integration into large SW systems;
o SW development methodologies such as Agile or similar;
o Monitoring and control system/data processing system development,

• Programming skills to include:
o Linux and Windows;
o C/C++;
o Java
o Matlab.

• Fluent in spoken and written English.

The successful applicant shall be able to:
• listen, understand and communicate information effectively;
• work in a technical team environment;
• analyse and generate solutions to complex problems;
• work independently when required.

The successful candidate will be required to apply for and receive a basic disclosure certificate prior to commencement of the contract.
